Here are Scarlet's kittens born August 2006, also some photos of Scarlet when the babies were 2 weeks old.  Scarlet is a red Somali born February, 2005.
Here are the babies at 1 week old.  The funky yellowish tone to the photos are because I didn't use a flash.  The boy is on the left and the girl on the right.  I didn't use the flash because the babies' eyes were just starting to open, and I didn't want to hurt their eyes with the bright light of the flash.

These are photos of momma, Gray Castle Scarlet Rose of Sunfox, a red Somali.  The first photo was taken with a flash, which startled her!  So I turned off the flash for the remaining photos.  Altho that makes the color yellowish, it also removes the reflection from her eyes!
Scarlet is an excellent momma cat.  She keeps those kittens well fed and spotlessly clean.  She's protective of her babies, but lets me handle them for short periods.   Scarlet is very loving and affectionate.   She'll sit in my lap at every opportunity.  I get plenty of kisses and head butts from Scarlet every day.  Surely with such a loving mom, her kittens will be just as sweet.

This little face on the left is our ruddy girl.  At this age they are barely able to hold up their heads.  Their eyes are fully open.
Kittens at 2 weeks old
The ruddy boy is here on the right, his sister is on the left with her head behind him.
Here is the boy again.  In order to get a good look at their faces, I held the kittens up.
Here's the girl.  The kittens look very colorful so far.  They have gained weight every day, and have tripled their birth weights at 2 weeks old, which is exactly on schedule for healthy growth.
Here is a link to the kittens as they continue to grow.
Kittens at 3 weeks old
Normally, I don't take photos every week - but look at these faces!  I couldn't resist showing off how much they have changed.  They can lift up their heads and are trying to climb out of the bed and walk.  The boy is on the left and the girl on the right.
Here's the boy - SOOOO cute!  Today I startled him and he hissed at me - so big and tough!  They are learning to follow things with their eyes, and he watches me a lot.
Here's the girl, she just woke up and wasn't too sure about the flashing camera lights.  She has such a lovely face.
These are just the sweetest faces - the boy looks like he's striking a pose!  Makes me want to kiss 'em all over.  Momma Scarlet keeps them spotlessly clean and their coats are so soft.  So far they have been quite healthy.  We watch them closely, as any kind of illness at this age can be serious.
