Zoom

From his very first show, Zoom seemed to think showing was a lot of fun. He got a chance to play with toys, headbutt some judges and even give kisses to a few! He would purr and make biscuits. He was so much fun to show.

Here's Zoom at 9 months old. He's really quite a handsome boy. He has a lovely head and expression, very nice earset, great ticking and nice color.

But the best thing about Zoom is his wonderfully sweet personality - he takes after his dad, Dusty, who was a consummate lap cat. Zoom spends most of our time together sitting in my lap, purring. He particularly enjoys being in my lap while I'm on the computer. I told him not to distract me today since I was going to work on his page . . .

This photo is the last one the photographer, George Lewis, took of Zoom that day. George makes his own little area away from view of the showhall by hanging curtains from poles about 6 feet high. Then he takes a little toy on the end of a long pole and whips it around to get the cat's attention, and to get the cat to pose. In this shot, Zoom has just realized, as he is looking up at the toy, that there is no ceiling and that he can probably jump straight over the top. I saw "that look" in his eyes and was able to catch him in mid-air, just before his feet touched the top of the curtains. At more than one show, Zoom has decided he should jump up over his show cage and see what it looks like on the other side. He definitely lives up to his name!

This is Zoom in the spring of 2005, on top of the freezer next to the window - one of his favorite spots. Zoom was neutered last year and has grown back some coat and his color has deepened. Zoom's eyes have also developed into a lovely shade of green. Look for Zoom in shows here in the Southwest this summer, we are hoping he remembers how much he liked showing as a kitten and wil show well in premiereship, which is the class for altered cats.
