February 2005 litter

Above and below is the blue boy. He has become more brave, and kept running right off the edge of the bed to go investigate and to meet the adult cats.

Both these babies are very bright, happy little Somalis. They are still nursing on Mom, but are eating and using the litter box regularly. It's amazing how quickly they get it - one day they don't, the next day they have it all figured out.

Here is our baby girl. She has a blast chasing toys on a string, batting balls around, hanging in the hammock and playing with her brother. Now that the kittens have had their first vaccines, they are starting to socialize with the other mom cats. This is good experience for them, learning to get along with cats besides their mom and each other. It's good training for them, they learn to accept disappointment when the girls won't let the kittens nurse, but the girls understand their job and are never too rough with the little ones.

We call her our little Princess. Here she intensely watching a toy, getting ready to pounce. She is a very busy girl, always demanding attention but never slowing down long enough to sit still. She looks a lot like her mom, Xi'an.

Here is the little boy. Look at those big ears!! I love big ears on a little kitten, because it usually means he will have good sized ears as an adult, once he grows into them. In this photo he is playing with the string part of the mouse string toy.

I must have taken over 20 photos of this kitten, but he wouldn't hold still long enough for me to get many good ones. In these photos he looks a lot like his dad, Tango, with his big ears and dark markings.

His personality reminds me of his dad, also - if I sit on the floor, he will come over and plop in my lap - he doesn't sit still, he wants to play with me - but he likes to be near me and use the interactive toys. The parents of these kittens are both very sweet, so we think the kittens will be as well.
