Litter born April, 2004
Above are the blue girl and boy, and the ruddy girl on the right.  Below is the fawn girl.
Here are all the babies, although it's a little difficult to see them.  One blue is between mama's legs.  Then the ruddy, fawn and blue are nursing.

Care and Feeding of Sunfox Somalis
2.5 weeks old
Above is the pile-up - how kittens sleep, especially if mom is not right there.  The kittens can't maintain a constant temperature on their own yet, so they have to huddle up to keep warm enough.
Below are the 3 girls, left to right - ruddy, blue and fawn.  You can see how the ears are really starting to pop out and along with the facial markings, it makes them look more like Somalis.  They are starting to get fuzzier as well.
Below is the blue boy.  Both the blues have not quite finished getting their right eye open - as long as there is no infection or problem, it's best to just check the eye daily and let it open on its own.
At left is the fawn girl.  The red eyes are from the flash of the camera.  Below the ruddy girl has knocked the fawn onto her back.  Of course there will be a lot of that behavior as the kittens learn to balance themselves, walk and play.  I can already see a bit of play behavior, as they sometimes will bat at each other with a paw.
Below are both the blues, the girl on the left and the boy trying to climb out of the bed.  It really bothers Sprite when her babies try to get out of their bed and crawl around.  Of course, she is concerned for their safety - but I think she also knows from experience that once they start walking and running around, her peaceful days are over!  Now if she wants to relax after feeding them, she can leave them and go lay down elsewhere.  Soon, she will have a harder time getting some time alone.

3 to 4 weeks old
At right is the fawn girl, one of the blue kittens behind her.  Below are the fawn and the ruddy girls, playing.  It's so cute to see them learning to play - they don't exactly pounce on each other yet, not enough coordination - so they try to knock each other down.
Below is the blue boy, mouth open as usual!  Somalis aren't usually talkative, but this boy has a thing or 2 to say about everything.
Right is the fawn girl.  I've put them on a cat tree they can't easily climb off of, to get photos of them standing at least somewhat still.  They are too young to catch their attention with toys, so getting them to look up is difficult.  In another week or 2 they will be able to climb onto this tree themselves.
